This week’s True Beauty Feature is Anna from Happy Medley. She is absolutely delightful and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know more about her and her sweet family. These are her insights about True Beauty.
“Becoming a mother has redefined my understanding of beauty in a lot of ways. To me, the true beauty of life is in the moment when I’m with the ones I love. It’s when we are together playing and goofing around in the morning, when we go for after dinner walks around the neighborhood and when we hold hands as we pray for our meal. It’s those little things that melt my heart and make me truly thankful for the beautiful ordinary life that I live.
“I do still think that looking good and taking care of myself is part of beauty and makes me who I am. But the most important part has become having a good character and being kind to the people I love. Our children really are true reflection of us and I want to see them grow up into honorable individuals with solid morals and kind hearts. Becoming a mother made me recognize my own faults and try to change those I can. When I see my son say ‘thank you’, when someone compliments his good behavior and I see his happy face I feel like my life has a beautiful purpose. I see beauty in my ordinary life when I drop everything to pay attention and play with my son, and my heart is full when I hear him laugh and smile.
“I believe kindness makes one beautiful. Even when our society says that you must fit certain standards and look this way or that way, true beauty comes from the inside. It’s the gentle spoken words, kindness in actions and selfless attitude towards others that bring out true beauty. The inside of a person matters more because people remember that much longer than what kind of clothes you are wearing, and how pretty your hair is. It’s the good deeds and kind words that make impact on someone else’s life, and truly matter. People remember other by what they did and who they are and that’s what matters the most to me. I know that I want to go through life making a difference and not just looking good on the outside. I feel truly beautiful when I know I have made a difference for someone else, when I’m kind to those who are not.”
Thank you so much, Anna, for letting us into your life. It was a pure joy!
